🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Chelan County Board of County Commissioners approved a local emergency declaration on August 4 in response to the Little Giant Fire, which began July 15 from lightning. The fire has grown to 59,346 acres as of August 4, threatening Lake Wenatchee, Entiat, and Lake Chelan communities.

The declaration allows county officials to bypass standard procurement rules for emergency resources and access state and federal recovery funding.
