Little Giant Fire nears 100,000 acres

New evacuation orders went into effect Saturday for areas near the Little Giant Fire, which has grown to 99,500 acres as of August 8, according to the Wenatchee World. State fire mobilization was authorized to support firefighting efforts.

Chelan and Douglas county health districts declared wildfire smoke emergencies Friday as air quality deteriorated. The U. S. Department of Health and Human Services approved a public health emergency declaration by Governor Bob Ferguson on Friday, covering Eastern Washington wildfires.
