Chelan County Public Works will begin installing stormwater drainage improvements on Arizona Boulevard in Malaga starting Sept. 8, according to a public notice. The project will replace the existing stormwater system with new catch basins and pipes, addressing standing water that has caused travel hazards and nuisances for residents and motorists.
The work will close the intersection of Riviera and Arizona boulevards to traffic for five weeks, with detours available via West Malaga Road and Sierra Boulevard. The $223,000 project, funded by county stormwater utility user fees, will also replace a 15-inch outfall pipe into Lake Cortez and install new driveway culverts at some properties. Pipkin Construction of Cashmere will serve as the county's contractor.
