Chelan County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to stop a vehicle traveling 80–100 mph on East Woodin Avenue at 9:40 p.m. on August 17, 2026. The driver failed to yield, fled onto SR-150, and later stopped on Beebe Bridge before entering U. S. Highway 97. The vehicle was found unoccupied, and the registered owner reported her husband was the likely driver and may have entered the river.
Deputies coordinated with Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Washington State Patrol to locate the driver near Chelan Falls Park. He was taken into custody without incident, transported for medical evaluation, and charged with Attempting to Elude a Police Vehicle and Driving Under the Influence. A blood sample was collected for testing, and charges were forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.
